Rocky Mountain National Park

In May of 2015, we decided a trip to Colorado was in order. The first half of the trip was to be a visit to my two favorite railroads, the Cumbres & Toltec and the Durango & Silverton. The second half was to be a visit to the Denver area and Rocky Mountain National Park.

In order to do this, we decided to rent a car and road trip to Denver, spending a few nights in Chama, NM and then Durango, Co before staying in Golden, CO for our time in the Denver area. We would then fly back to Houston from Denver since that return drive of 18 hrs just didn't found fun.

The first 5 days involved staying in Chama, NM and Durango, CO. The hiking starts on day 6.

• Day 4 (Sunday) - Driving to Durango, CO

Day 5

• Day 5 (Monday) - Memorial Day on the Durango & Silverton's Parlor Car Alamosa

Day 6

• Day 6 (Tuesday) - Drive to Denver via Wolf Creek Pass and the South Park
• Short hike to Treasure Falls near Pagosa Springs

Day 7

• Day 7 (Wednesday) - Explore Estes Park
• Fern Falls Hike
• Alberta Falls Hike
• Sprauge Lake Loop

Day 8

• Day 8 (Thursday) - Wild Basin Area of RMNP and Georgetown, CO
• Calypso Cascades Hike
• Georgetown Loop Railroad

Day 9

• Day 9 (Friday) - Explore Colorado Springs
• Pikes Peak Cog Railway
• Garden of the Gods

Day 10 / 11

• Day 10 (Saturday) - Gem Lake and Trail Ridge Road
• Gem Lake Hike
• Trail Ridge Road
• Day 11 (Sunday) - Colorado Railroad Museum & Fly Home
