Day 4- Wednesday 8/1/2018 - Explore Seattle and Travel Home
We were up and on the road by 7:00 AM for the 1hr 15min drive to Kingston to catch the ferry over to Edmonds, which is north of Seattle. We picked up some coffee and smoothies on the way out of Port Angeles. The drive was nice but had a lot of low hanging clouds and a bit of rain. We crossed the cool floating bridge over the Hood canal. We got to the ferry terminal to find that Kingston was a pretty cool town that we wished we had more time to visit. The ferry was right on time with its 8:40am departure. We were on the boat named Spokane. We got out of our car and went up to the passenger area and then up to observation area. It was really cold up there with the wind coming across of and of course we were all in shorts and t-shirts. The ride was a cool experience.
We got to Edmonds on the other side and was off the boat a little after 9:00am. Scott was staying through Sunday and was renting a car to continue to explore some more. He had a rental booked to pick up at 10:15am near the airport on the south side of Seattle. That meant we had to drive all the way across Seattle to drop him off which we made in time (barely). Emily and I then had about two hours or so to kill before our flight and decided to head to Pike’s Market to look around. It was about 30 minutes to get back into downtown Seattle where Em and I explored the market a bit and picked up some nice lunch (I had clam chowder and Emily had a seafood stew). Emily and I had a 2:14pm flight back to Houston on United. It was a nice flight, no complaints and got back to Houston on time at 8:34. We got our bag and got the shuttle back to our truck. We made it home without incident and enjoyed FuBelly Chinese Food for dinner. A nice end to an amazing trip!
