Disney World & the Star Wars Half Marathon 2018

In the spring of 2018, we joined my sister, Laurie, for a trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Laurie was attending a conference at the Swan Resort at Disney World and wanted to know if we wanted to join her to enjoy the parks. The dates of her conference also lined up with the Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon. Doing a half marathon was on Emily's bucket list so it was set.

To save some money, we stayed at Disney's All Star Sports the first three nights and then moved over to Dolphin Resort for the final 5 nights. We utilized a 7 day park hopper ticket while we were there.

Below is an outline of what parks we focued on each day. In 2018, you could get three fast passes for rides for each day you are there. I have also added which rides we got fast passes.

Day 1- Travel to Orlando

  • Fly to Orlando from Houston
  • Pickup Race Packet at the ESPN Zone
  • Check out Disney Springs

Day 2- Star Wars Dark Side Half Marathon & Magic Kingdom

  • Evening at Disney Springs
  • Dinner at Morimoto's at Disney Springs

Day 3- Hollywood Studios

    • Tower of Terror
    • Star Tours
    • Rope drop - Toy Story Midway Mania
  • Dinner at 50's Primetime Diner
  • Fantasmic Nighttime Spectacular

Day 4- Animal Kingdom Halfday and then Epcot

  • Animal Kingdom with Fast Passes for:
    • Expedition Everest
    • Kilimanjaro Safari
    • Flight of Passage (also rope dropped it)
  • Afternoon and Evening at Epcot
  • Dinner at Flower and Garden Booths at Epcot
  • Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort

Day 5- Magic Kingdom and Anniversary Dinner at California Grill

Day 6- Epcot All Day (with extra magic hour)

Day 7- Magic Kingdom All Day (with extra magic hour)
