Day 1 - Wednesday 5/3/2023 - Travel to Niagara / Visit Niagara On The Lake
My parents came in the day before and spent they night at our house. They will be keeping Addison at the house for us since she hasn’t been sleeping too well away from home. That was pretty hectic getting them situated in the house and up to speed on what all Addison does. We were restless and excited throughout the night and by 3:40 went ahead and got up. We were out the door by 4 and made it to Hobby airport in Houston in plenty of time for our 5:50 flight to Chicago. In Chicago, we then had just under a 3 hr layover until our flight to Buffalo, NY. Both flights we got exit row with plenty of leg room! On the flight from Houston, I found that the new Harry Potter movie, Secrets of Dumbledoor was on the Southwest app so we both watched that. It was the perfect length for that flight, 2.5 hrs or so. We had a snack in Chicago and a good flight up to Buffalo, it was nice to be traveling again!
In Buffalo we rented a car from Enterprise and made our way to Niagara, NY. In order to miss tolls, it took us a slight back way which ended up being pretty scenic! We crossed into Canada on the Rainbow Bridge at the falls without any issues. We drove the main road by the falls to get the lay of the land. We had some time before we were to be at the airbnb so headed to the Ravine Winery which was near our Bnb, getting there about 3:00 (eastern time). It was a smaller but real homey winery with really good, local wine. We liked everything we had!
We were done around 4 and had an hour before check in (we told the airbnb 5:00) so we drove to Niagara on the Lake which was about 15 min away. We drove the town a bit and then parked to check out a few shops. We browsed the shops and town a bit, leaving at 5 and making it to our bnb by 5:15. The airbnb was gorgeous and so well decorated and put to gather. We both hadn’t eaten much today so quick left for a local brewery called Grist. Very good but very crowded and we haded to wait for a table. We ended up staying there until 7:45 or so and was throughly satisfied. The Airbnb was 5 minutes away and we spent the rest of the night just relaxing. Got to bed about 9 which was 8 our time but was just very tired from the long day.
