Day 3 - Sea Day
Day 3 - Tuesday May 26
We woke up about 7:00am but found out that the ship had moved back to central time so it was really 6:00am ship time. My mom was up as well so the 4 of us hung out on the balconies and just enjoyed the ocean. A run for coffee was made with the little one enjoying a chai latte as well. We headed to the Windjammer for the breakfast buffet at about 7:15 with LT still sleeping in!
After some breakfast we explored the ship a bit more hitting areas we missed the day before. Splashaway Bay didn't open until 9:00. When we walked by at 8:20, the many loungers around it were wide open but when we got back at 9:00, we felt lucky finding 3 together. E and I got a blueberry virgin mojito and a traditional virgin mojito and quickly fell in love with them! Our daughter played in the Splashaway Bay a bit but it was windy and a bit cool. I took her over to the main pool and it was surprisingly full but we found a little area and she was able to swim there while dance aerobics were going on around!
We played in the pools for about 2 hours before retiring to the loungers held by the other parent not with the kid for another mojito and now a Pina colada mocktail that the kid enjoyed as well. We picked up some lunch from Loco Fresh to enjoy at the loungers. LT and mom had been at the casino for most of the morning. The skies started to darken on us so at 12:00 noon or so, and with lunch already eaten, we went searching and found them in Playmakers getting lunch. After saying hi, we continued to our cabin to get a shower.
The kid and I couldn't sit still and we heard on the announcements that the belly flop contest was still on as the rain was staying away. LT joined us and the four of us found a spot on deck 12 over looking the sport pool for the contest. My daughter watched from my shoulders for a bit before her aunt found a space along the railing. The contest was alot of fun!
I got some drinks for E and I and we headed back to the cabin. The 6 of us then chilled on the balconies as the rain started. At 2:30, LT split to go to Star Wars trivia and the 4 of us remaining went to Disney song trivia! Both groups enjoyed it a lot! We met back up at the cabins to get ready for dinner at 5:00.
Dinner on night 2 was 'dress your best' and the theme of the meal was French night. E made the mistake of asking Ronnie, our waiter, which entree was best so he brought her both. That is one cool thing with the main dining room is if you want all appetizers? Two entrees? All of the deserts? It is all good and they will accommodate. E did find that the Indian options on the menu were always hits and enjoyed getting those every night!
After dinner, LT split off and the other 4 of us headed to the Royal Theatre for the evening 7:00pm show called Marquee. While the performers were great, most of us didn't know the songs (or enough about broadway) to know the show. Our daughter loves singing and musicals and enjoyed the show even without knowing the songs. The cast really did a good job and having a live band was amazing but she did start to nod off towards the end (long day!).
Once the show as over, we headed back to our cabins exhausted. There was a good storm outside and the Freedom was rolling pretty good but luckily we never had any effects from it though others on the boat were a bit sea sick it seems. You would walk kind of side to side down the hall way as the ship rolled with the waves. Our travel agent did a good job recommending rooms close to the center of the ship and while we felt it moving, it could have have been a lot worse.
Our daughter was asleep pretty much once we got back to the room. I joined LT on the balcony watching the rain and the lightning flash around us. We all, again, knocked out pretty early. I was always tempted to go back out and enjoy a bit of the night lift on the ship but hey it was vacation and I enjoyed the sleep!
