Saturday 5/26/2018 - Texas State Railroad
On the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend 2018, Blake Bogs arranged a meet up of some friends for a day to chase the Texas State Railroad.
I met up with Blake in north Houston and we headed for Rusk, Tx. There in Rusk, we met up Jason Rose who was taking his son Noah on his first train chase! His trip report can be read here.
Steam through the Piney Woods of East Texas is always is delight and the SPLCo 28, a 2-8-0, put on a fine show for us. It has been almost 2 years since we had chased the TSRR. In the early to mid 2010s, we were more of regulars. It was nice catching up some of the local railfans and crew that we hadn't seen in a long time.
